torahism

The first book that we recommend is Torahism: Are Christians Required to Keep the Law of Moses? by R. L. Solberg. The author does a phenomenal job lovingly and thoroughly challenging many of the specific claims of the Hebrew Roots Movement, such as:

  • The Torah is eternal.

  • Christians must keep the feasts and the Sabbath.

  • Christians must avoid unclean food.

  • Christianity was corrupted.

  • Christmas and Easter are pagan holidays.

And many more! This is an incredible resource for anyone with a friend or loved one in the Hebrew Roots Movement.

If One Uses It Lawfully.jpg

If One Uses It Lawfully: The Law of Moses and the Christian Life by Matthew E. Ferris tackles the claim that the Mosaic law is necessary for the believers’ sanctification. The author then goes on to explain how we are to live under the law of Christ (Gal 6:2). If someone in your life is making the claim that the law of Moses is the means of Christian sanctification – this book is a must-have!

Sinai and the Saints: Reading Old Covenant Laws for the New Covenant Community by James M. Todd III helps the reader gain a correct understanding of the Torah. He assists his readers who are wondering what to do with many of the strange laws in the Old Testament and how the law applies to modern-day believers.

Peter J. Gentry says of Sinai and the Saints: “The failure to understand the relationship of the old covenant to the new is probably one of the most important areas where Christians need good help – and they will receive good help here.”

From the authors:

In “Reading Moses – Seeing Jesus”, we give our Messianic Jewish perspective to the following questions:

  • What is the purpose of the law?

  • Why did God give the Torah in the first place?

  • Did Messiah come to point us back to the law?

  • Are we under the law?

  • Should we follow Rabbinic traditions?

  • What about our Hebraic Roots?

  • Should we keep the Torah? How?
